An Awareness Programme to popularize the Sanitation Bye Laws adopted by District Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) was organized by AMYAA NGO at Mayu, Roing. The Programme was attended by Panchayat Members and Organisations of Mayu-1 & Mayu-2 sectors of Roing. Shri. Paul Chawang, Secretary, AMYAA coordinated the Programme wherein Junior Engineers of District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), LDV, Shri. Nabam Takek & Shri. Smith Taba were the Resource Persons. The Programme comprising Presentations, Brainstorming and Community mobilisation strategies was well received by the participants.
Sanitation Bye Laws has provisions for Prohibition for littering, Delivery of waste, Management of public events, User charges, Penalties, etc. in detail. The Programme holds importance in the context of pressing demand for a comprehensive Waste Management Plan in the city.
Ms Jampi Mega, Chairperson, Gram Panchayat, Mayu Ms Imili Miku, Member, Gram Panchayat, Mayu and Shri. Kiss Mili, Member, Gram Panchayat, Mayu gave fruitful suggestions and extended full support for effective implementation of Bye Laws.
The effective ‘Communication Programme’ devised by Shri. Deepak Shinde IAS, Deputy Commissioner, LDV and Ms Chechta Yadav IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, LDV involving Elected Public Representatives, DUDA, NGOs, Green Clubs of Schools and Citizen Volunteers has started gaining momentum in Roing.
